Betting company to stream up to 90 games of the women’s ice hockey league on its app.
The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has announced a new partnership with FanDuel in time for its second season.
Contract:
- FanDuel becomes official sportsbook partner of league
- Betting company to also be an exclusive in-app streaming partner in the US
- FanDuel to stream up to 90 regular season games and playoffs live on its app
- Sportsbook to also be an ‘integral part’ of PWHL games
Context:
The partnership will allow PWHL fans to both watch games and simultaneously make bets on teams and players throughout the season. FanDuel will offer player prop bets, same game parlays and novelty markets to fans during the campaign.
FanDuel becomes the latest streaming partner of the PWHL, which added Amazon Prime Video to its roster of Canadian broadcasters ahead of this campaign. It is currently without a US national broadcast rightsholder, but games are currently shown by various regional sports networks (RSNs) in local markets, such as the New York-based MSG Network and Boston-based NESN.
Ahead of its second season, the league also announced Intact Financial Corporation as a founding partner on a multi-year deal. Intact will become the official home and auto insurance partner of the league in Canada.
Comment:
“FanDuel is proud to partner with the PWHL and support the league’s incredible athletes,” said Dale Hooper, general manager of FanDuel Canada. “This partnership is about creating a new era of fan engagement—one that brings hockey closer to fans while helping grow the visibility of women’s professional sports.”
Coming next:
Following the PWHL’s opening weekend of games, the league’s next match will feature the Toronto Sceptres and the Ottawa Charge on 3rd December.
