Logo unveiled ahead of the Indiana Fever guard’s long-awaited release of a signature shoe and apparel collection.
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been unveiled as Nike’s newest signature athlete.
Confirmed:
- Clark and Nike unveil signature logo for an upcoming apparel collection and signature shoe release
- A shirt featuring the logo will be released on 1st September, with the logo apparel collection to be available starting 1st October
Context:
A phenomenon since entering the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) as the first pick in last year’s draft, Clark has quickly become one of the most recognisable women’s athletes. A record-breaking college basketball career was followed by a strong rookie season for the Fever, but the 23-year-old’s second WNBA season has been hit by injuries, limiting her time on the court.
Nike first partnered with Clark in 2022, with the company then inking her to a name, image and likeness (NIL) deal. She then inked an eight-year deal in 2024, with the deal reportedly worth US$28 million.
Clark’s portfolio of endorsements is extensive, with other deals in place with the likes of Gatorade, Gainbridge and Panini. She came in fourth place in SportsPro’s 50 Most Marketable Athletes (50MM) rankings last year and will likely place highly this year, with her influence showing no signs of slowing down.
Comment:
“Nike’s signature roster features all-time greats, and I am incredibly proud to join some of the best athletes in the world,” Clark said in a press release. “I’m excited to share a first look at what we’ve started to create together.”
“At Nike, we’ve always drawn inspiration not only from the world’s greatest athletes but also from those who elevate the spirit of sport itself. Caitlin exemplifies both: an exceptional basketball player and an outstanding ambassador for the game,” added Ann Miller, executive vice president of global sports marketing at Nike.
“We’re excited to take this next step together, continuing to shape this historic time for women’s basketball and pushing the game and industry forward.”
