- Five-year deal with USGA includes US Women’s Open
- Sky has held exclusive rights to US Open since 2017
- Network currently shows all men’s and women’s golf majors
UK broadcast giant Sky Sports will continue to air the US Open and US Women’s Open golf majors until 2030 as part of a five-year extension with the United States Golf Association (USGA).
Both tournaments will be available through Sky’s pay-TV platform and the Now direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming service until 2030, alongside the US Amateur Championship, US Women’s Amateur Championship, the US Senior Open, and the Curtis Cup between the United States and Great Britain and Ireland.
The multi-year extension cements Sky’s position as the broadcast home of golf in the UK. The network holds the exclusive live rights to all four men’s majors and all five women’s majors, in addition to coverage of the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, LPGA Tour, and Ladies European Tour (LET).
Sky Sports also has rights to the Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup team-based tournaments between Europe and the United States.
Sky has held exclusive rights to the US Open since 1996 and fended off competition from several broadcasters, include Netflix, for its latest contract extension, according to the Guardian.
The 2026 US Open will be held at Shinnecock Hills in New York from 18th to 21st June, with the 2026 US Women’s Open to take place at Riviera Country Club in California from 4th to 7th June.
The pact with Sky comes hot on the heels of the USGA extending its broadcast deal with NBCUniversal, which ensures the rights to the US Open and US Women’s Open will stay on the network’s linear, cable and digital platforms until at least 2032.
Elsewhere in golf, the PGA Tour and the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) announced a multi-year extension of the financial services firm’s title sponsorship of the RBC Heritage and RBC Canadian Open.
RBC has been the title sponsor of the RBC Heritage and RBC Canadian Open since 2012 and 2008, respectively.
This year’s RBC Heritage had a prize purse of US$20 million, including US$3.6 million for the winner, tying it for fourth on the PGA Tour. The 2025 RBC Canadian Open ranked 17th with a purse of US$9.8 million and a winner’s share of US$1.764 million.
“As the title sponsor of two events on the PGA Tour schedule, RBC plays an essential role in golf, providing both critical development at the amateur level and life-changing moments for the world’s greatest players,” said PGA Tour chief executive Brian Rolapp.
“We are grateful to extend our relationship with RBC, Canada’s national championship at the RBC Canadian Open, as well as the RBC Heritage, the signature event culminating across the marina from Harbour Town’s iconic lighthouse.”
