Inter Miami and Nu strike stadium naming rights deal

Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami has announced a stadium naming rights deal with Brazilian digital financial services company Nu.

Key details:

  • Multi-year deal sees venue renamed as Nu Stadium
  • Nu’s logo to appear on the back of Inter Miami’s jersey
  • Company to sponsor a hospitality lounge and community space within Nu Stadium
  • Nu and Inter Miami will create immersive experiences for fans and customers

Context:

No financial terms for the deal were disclosed, but Sportico reports that this is one of the largest naming rights deals for a soccer-specific stadium in MLS history.

The record for a stadium naming rights deal was held by LAFC, who signed a ten-year deal reportedly worth US$100 million with BMO in 2023. New York City FC then surpassed this figure when they signed a 20-year deal with Etihad Airways for their new venue set to be completed in 2027.

Nu was founded in 2013 and counts 131 million customers across Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. This marks its second sports sponsorship, after it became a partner of the Mercedes Formula One team earlier this year.

Inter Miami are scheduled to play their first game at Nu Stadium on 4th April, with the venue to have a capacity of 26,700. The defending MLS Cup champions will move over from their home venue in Fort Lauderdale, which was sponsored by JP Morgan Chase & Co.
