Premier League and Coca-Cola confirm three-year partnership

English soccer’s Premier League has unveiled a new partnership with soft drinks giant Coca-Cola from next season.

It was reported in March that the Premier League and Coca-Cola were in talks over a multimillion-pound deal. The confirmation marks a return to the top flight of English soccer for Coca-Cola, which partnered with the league for three-and-a-half years from January 2019. The competition’s softs drinks partnership category has been vacant since that agreement expired.

Prior to its involvement with the Premier League, Coca-Cola’s long association with English soccer has seen it serve as title sponsor of both the English Football League (EFL) from 2004 to 2010 and the League Cup during the 1990s. The company’s wider soccer sponsorship portfolio includes tie-ups with Fifa, Uefa, Major League Soccer (MLS) and FC Barcelona.

“We are delighted to welcome back Coca-Cola as the official soft drink partner of the Premier League,” said Will Brass, the Premier League’s chief commercial officer.

“Coca-Cola is loved and enjoyed by millions around the world, much like the Premier League, and bring years of experience in top level sport sponsorship and fan engagement. We look forward to working together over the coming seasons to drive further success for us both through this expansive, exciting partnership.”

Javier Meza, president of marketing, Europe, Coca-Cola, added: “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Premier League, the most competitive and compelling football league in the world.

“Football and the Premier League are global passion points, and we look forward to uplifting fans and making their experience even better by bringing them closer to the action.”
