Pro Padel League raises US$15m to fund growth

The Pro Padel League (PPL) has raised US$15 million in a Series A funding round led by Charlotte Hornets co-chairman and governor Rick Schnall.

Key details:

  • Other participants included Andrew Schwartzberg and Jason Tillis and existing investor Left Lane Capital
  • PPL raised US$10 million in seed round in March 2025
  • Funding will be used to support league growth, team infrastructure and player development

Context:

PPL’s second major fundraise in 12 months reflects the growing appeal of the sport in the US and the potential to transform recreational popularity into professional product. PPL currently has ten teams in the US, Canada and Mexico, several of which the league claims now have valuations of more than US$10 million.

Team investors include tennis star Francis Tiafoe (pictured), Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Paes and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) chair Edward Rogers.

However the PPL is not the only organisation seeking to capitalise on the sports’ popularity, with the likes of Premier Padel also seeking expansion.

Comment:

“Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and the Pro Padel League is uniquely positioned to lead that continued expansion in the US,” said Schnall. “The PPL’s momentum, world-class talent, and innovative team model create a powerful, scalable platform. We’re excited to support PPL as it grows the sport, builds passionate fan communities, and establishes itself as a premier sports property.”
